“Eight Modern Mysteries of the Alaskan Interior,” a lyric essay about the phenomena around Fairbanks, Alaska. Published in The Iowa Review, Fall 2023.
“Ten Years Sober,” an essay about recovery, gratitude, goals, and light cycles. Published in The Sun, July 2022.
“Little Miss Grift,” a story about an infamous mother and her uncertain disappearance. Published in South Dakota Magazine, January/February 2022.
“Research Notes: Golden Heart Parade,” a brief essay about how I tried very hard to write a novel, but it ended up just being a 4,500-word story. Published at Necessary Fiction in September 2021.
“Smoky Water Elegy,” an essay about a steel truss bridge in Clarke County, Mississippi, where four Black farmhands were lynched in 1918 and two Black teenagers were lynched in 1942. Published in J Journal: New Writing on Justice, Spring 2020.
